Norm Ullman scored twice for the Maple Leafs.

After falling behind 2-1 in the second period, the Red Wings (15-7-9) overwhelmed Toronto with three straight goals in the stanza. Ullman's second goal early in the third period drew the Leafs within 4-3, but the Red Wings poured it on, scoring twice in 52 seconds to drive goalie Marv Edwards from the net and onto the Toronto bench.

Stemkowski's second marker at 16:32 made the score 7-3. Toronto's Ron Ellis added a power play goal at 19:32.
Detroit goalie Roy Edwards wasn't spectacular, but he made 29 saves and kept the Leafs at bay.
The Red Wings snapped a three game winless streak and matched their season high in goals. They scored seven times in Minnesota on November 15.
"Sometimes the puck just goes into the net," said Red Wings coach Sid Abel. "We were living right tonight."
Alex Delvecchio, Nick Libett and Gordie Howe also had goals for Detroit, which is idle until the Montreal Canadiens invade Olympia on Friday.
